2012 Spring Softball

KYS softball leagues are for children from ages 7 to 12. Practices and games will be held at Sequoyah Park on Cherokee Boulevard and Lakeshore Park on Lyons View.

Workout Sessions & Schedule
Players will be asked to attend workouts for coaches to evaluate players. Teams will be formed to provide parity in each league. KYS cannot guarantee requests regarding team assignments.

Leagues
(Note: A child’s playing age for softball is Jan. 1, 2012.)

9 & Under Modified Fast-Pitch Softball League (age 7-9)
Fee: $160. Everyone plays. Coaches or players will pitch in mostly-Saturday games. Each team will play 10 regular-season games and a single-elimination tournament.

12 & Under Modified Fast-Pitch Softball League (age 10-12)
Fee: $160. Everyone plays. A player will pitch during weekday games. Modified Amateur Softball Assn. of America rules will govern play. Each team will play 10 games and a single-elimination tournament.

Middle School Fast-Pitch Softball League (6th-8th grades)
Teams only. Talk to your school coach or athletic director. League designed to give girls a chance to play after they have aged-out of traditional recreational leagues and get them ready for high school teams. Each team will play 10 regular season weekday games and a single-elimination tournament. Please contact us for more information on 8th-8th grade team softball.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONs
Q: Is the KYS league only for experienced players?
A: Absolutely not. We're a recreational and developmental league. We want each and every player to improve in his skills over the course of a season.

Q: Does my child have to play with her age group or can she play up a league?
A: If you think she can handle playing with older players, what league she plays in is your choice.

Q: Does my child have to play with her age group or can she play down a league?
A: KYS doesn't allow children to play down a league even if they have bad softball birthdays.

Q: Is softball only played in the spring?
A: Yes.
