2011 Flag Football

KYS flag football is for boys and girls from age 4 to 14. Practices will be held at Lakeshore Park on Lyons View. All games will be on Anderson Field and River Field at Lakeshore on Sunday afternoons.

Official Age
A child’s official age for flag football is that child’s age as of Sept. 1, 2011.

Season and Fee
The season will begin in early September and will conclude in late October with a season-ending tournament for ages 6-14. Teams will be given one practice time during the week at Lakeshore Park. Fees: $175.

Workout Sessions
The coach’s child plus the children of 2 assistant coaches will be protected during the drafting of teams. Children not on a team should attend workout sessions for his or her particular age group. Players age 6-14 will be asked to attend workouts for coaches to evaluate them. Teams will be formed and an attempt to provide parity in each league will be made. Players will be drafted onto teams with boys and girls their own age, however, it may be necessary to combine certain ages in order to field a sufficient number of teams to form a league. Players age 4 and 5 will not workout. KYS cannot guarantee specific requests regarding team assignments.

A: Yes.

Q: Does my child have to play with his age group or can he play up a league?
A: If you think he can handle playing with older players, what league he plays in is your choice.

Q: Is KYS Flag Football only for boys?
A: No. Girls are certainly welcome and many have played with KYS.
