Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury Partnership

“The TN Fury - KYS partnership immediately enlarges the vision and deepens the impact of both youth sports organizations. Over the long term the partnership is a catalyst for dreaming bigger dreams for how we can leverage our tens of thousands of volunteer coaching hours to improve the personal lives of children and youth throughout our community and region. Our shared vision for youth sports as an immeasurably rich environment for forming personal and relational health as well as bridging cultural and social barriers compels us to commit to making each other the best possible service organizations we can be.”

-- Rick Dunn (TN Fury Co-Founder)

Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury recently partnered together in order to enhance both organizations presence in youth basketball.  This partnership will provide a year-round experience for the thousands of young athletes in our community as well as give both organizations the opportunity to build character, instill discipline and form lasting, meaningful relationships through the sport of basketball.  Below is a list and description of the opportunities that will be made available.

Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury Open Gym is for elementary school boys and girls and runs from mid-August through the first of October.  There are no attendance requirements for this session, but registration is required.  The goal of the fall open gym is to provide the young athletes with some of the best instruction around.  Each session is an hour long and consists of fundamentals / ball handling skills and a guided scrimmage.  We like to think of it as a “developmental pre-season”.  REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN AT WWW.KNOXYOUTHSPORTS.COM – Space is limited!

The winter recreational league is for boys and girls ages 4 thru 12 and is played in multiple gyms around our community.  The season runs November thru February, capping off the season with the Knoxville City Tournament.  Generally, there is one practice each week and games are played on Saturdays and some Sundays.  We will also offer a Wednesday night skills session for our athletes to stay sharp and on their game!

Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury’s Spring AAU Season provides a competitive experience for boys & girls from 3rd Grade up to Middle School.  Tryouts are typically held in late February and tournaments are played all over the southeast.  Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury has been very successful in their tournament showings and currently have over 30 athletes that have gone on to play college basketball.

Knox Youth Sports / TN Fury Open Gym for rising 3rd – 8th grade boys (Thursday Nights) and girls (Wednesday Nights) runs from June 1st until August 4th. There are no pre-registration, no attendance requirements; everyone is welcome to participate when you are available during the summer.  HS Open gym for rising 9th – 12th grade boys and girls (Tuesday Nights) begins July 5th and runs through August 2nd.  The goal of summer open gym is to allow the boys and girls play with and against the best competition in Knoxville with minimal coaching instruction. The athletes will focus on 30 minutes of ball-handling each open gym session. Open Gym averages around 30 athletes per session and represent 40+ different schools in the area.
